S. Matokhin is a concert performer, has experience of performances in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Israel, Egypt, Brazil, Slovakia and England both as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles. He was a member of the performance group "Orchestrion", the Creator and Director of the ensemble of contemporary music "Golden Horde", for which he wrote music. He actively collaborates with the Volgograd, Astrakhan chamber orchestras, Symphony orchestras of Ashdod, Beer Sheva, Netanya (Israel), Sao Jose dos Campos (Brazil), Cairo Sinfonietta (Egypt), Saratov, Kazan, Elista, Tambov, Yaroslavl, Volgograd academic Symphony orchestras, as well as with the Volga and Tambov orchestras of folk instruments.
During his teaching career he has prepared more than 50 laureates and diploma winners of all-Russian and international competitions of classical guitar performers.
Conducts master classes in Moscow, Kirov, Saratov, Tambov, Volgograd, Elista, Astrakhan, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Kislovodsk, Perm, Wroclaw (Poland), Kharkîv (Ukraine), Jerusalem, Netanya (Israel), Pau (France), Cordoba (Spain), Vienna (Austria), Nordhorn (Germany), London (England). Regularly runs courses on training of teachers of musical schools and boarding schools of Moscow, Moscow region, Volgograd, Saratov, Elista, Astrakhan, Kazan, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Kislovodsk.
Conducts active methodological and scientific activities: makes presentations at scientific conferences, publishes articles on topical issues of professional education and development of the art of guitar performance.
